We've used our own Sun Oven for over a decade and although it shows a little wear and tear from our high winds and the fact that it is outside for a good percentage of the year, it still cooks as good as the first time we used it! 

We use it approximately 250 days a year:
  • As a slow cooker - Pointing it toward the mid-day sun...by evening we have ourselves a meal.
  • To reheat leftovers.
  • To cook items a little faster, like cookies and muffins, make sure the oven is pointed directly at the sun and move the cooker every 30 minutes or so if needed. Things may cook a little slower than in a conventional oven...just be patient!
  • As a dehydrator - Orienting the oven so its situated before the sun...this way your fruit leather (or whatever you're dehydrating) won't cook. Also, we open the window just a little bit for a little airflow.
  • Works great in the winter too! As long as there is sun, the reflectors will catch the rays and draw in the heat.
